Waterborne Epoxy MIO Intermediate漆
KF-WM100 Water-Based Epoxy MIO Intermediate
KF-WM100 Waterborne Epoxy MIO Intermediate Paint is based on waterborne epoxy resin and waterborne curing agent, with micaceous iron oxide (MIO) pigment added. The MIO flakes align parallel in the coating to form a labyrinth shielding layer that blocks moisture and corrosive media penetration. Water is used as thinner, with VOC approaching zero. It is the core intermediate layer of the waterborne heavy-duty anti-corrosion three-coat system (waterborne zinc-rich - waterborne MIO - waterborne topcoat).
ProductsOverview
Waterborne Epoxy MIO Intermediate Paint is a heavy-duty anti-corrosion coating designed by KeXin New Material in accordance with ISO12944 standard. Formulated scientifically with premium resins and high-performance anti-rust pigments, it offers excellent anti-corrosion performance and adhesion. Widely used for protective coating in heavy-duty anti-corrosion fields such as steel structures, bridges, petrochemicals, and ships.
The product has passed rigorous salt spray testing (>1000h) and adhesion testing (>5MPa), and with a complete base-intermediate-topcoat system, it can provide long-lasting protection for 15-25 years. Kexin provides free coating design solutions and technical support services.
Why choose a waterborne epoxy MIO midcoat?
CoreAdvantages
MIO Shielding·Labyrinth Effect
Micaceous iron oxide (MIO) is a flake pigment (particle size 5-30 microns) arranged in parallel overlapping layers within the coating. It forms a labyrinth shielding layer that effectively blocks moisture/oxygen/chloride ion penetration. The coating withstands salt spray for more than 1500h (100 microns single layer). It is the key intermediate layer connecting primer and topcoat in heavy-duty anti-corrosion coating systems.
Waterborne System·Full Supporting Range
Forms a fully waterborne heavy-duty anti-corrosion three-coat system with waterborne epoxy zinc-rich primer KF-WZ500 and waterborne polyurethane topcoat/waterborne fluorocarbon topcoat. Total dry film thickness 280-320 microns, designed service life greater than 15 years in C4-C5 corrosion environments. Helps coating enterprises achieve full-process waterborne environmental compliance.
Single-coat thick film · efficient application
High-solids waterborne epoxy system can achieve 80-150 microns in a single coat without sagging. Pot life at 23 degrees greater than 2 hours, suitable for large-area spraying. Good intercoat adhesion with waterborne zinc-rich primer and waterborne topcoat, no sanding required. Curable at low temperature of 5 degrees, meeting winter coating needs.
Professional coating technology support services
Kexin has an experienced coating R&D and application team providing full-process support — from substrate analysis, coating selection and process-parameter optimization to on-site application guidance.

Frequently AskedQuestions
ApplicationProcess
Surface preparation
Clean substrates thoroughly of oil and rust. Blast steel to Sa2.5. Pre-treat per product spec to keep the substrate clean. Ambient 5-40°C, relative humidity<85%。
Primer / pre-treatment
Select the matching primer or pre-treatment per substrate and system. Mix strictly at the stated ratio and control DFT. Proceed after the primer dries; pre-stripe critical areas.
Main-coat application
Apply the main coat per the process spec, strictly controlling DFT, temperature/humidity and flash-off to keep the film uniform without sagging or pinholes.
Curing process
Bake or air dry at room temperature until fully cured according to product requirements. Maintain a uniform oven temperature (±5°C) and gradually increase the temperature to avoid coating defects. For room temperature curing, ensure adequate ventilation and suitable humidity.
Inspection & acceptance
We test all indicators including film thickness, adhesion, gloss, color difference, and chemical resistance. We conduct comprehensive performance testing according to relevant standards. After all tests pass, we issue a test report and quality assurance certificate, and ship the product in dust-free packaging.
