Rust-converting coatingPrimer
KF-RC100 Rust Converter Primer
KF-RC100 rust-tolerant primer uses tannic acid/phosphoric acid as active rust conversion agents and vinyl acrylic copolymer as film-forming binder. After application on rusted steel surfaces, the active components react with rust (Fe2O3/Fe3O4) to form stable black iron tannate/iron phosphate chelates. Sandblasting-free direct application on rusty surfaces significantly reduces maintenance costs.
ProductsOverview
Rust-tolerant primer is a heavy-duty anti-corrosion coating designed by KeXin New Material in accordance with ISO 12944 standards. Formulated with premium resins and high-performance anti-rust pigments, it offers excellent anti-corrosion performance and adhesion. Widely used for protective coating in heavy-duty anti-corrosion fields such as steel structures, bridges, petrochemicals, and ships.
The product has passed rigorous salt spray testing (>1000h) and adhesion testing (>5MPa), and with a complete base-intermediate-topcoat system, it can provide long-lasting protection for 15-25 years. Kexin provides free coating design solutions and technical support services.
Why choose a rust-converting primer?
CoreAdvantages
Rust Conversion Technology · No Sandblasting
Tannic Acid and phosphoric acid (H3PO4) undergo chelation reactions with rust (Fe2O3/Fe3O4). Iron tannate forms a dense, stable blue-black protective film. Iron phosphate forms a grayish-white passivation layer. The reaction products are stable, irreversible chelates that no longer continue to corrode. Eliminates the sandblasting process and can be applied directly to rusty steel surfaces.
Greatly reduce maintenance costs
In steel structure maintenance, sandblasting for rust removal accounts for 50-70% of total coating costs. Rust-tolerant primers eliminate sandblasting and save over 50% of maintenance costs. Particularly suitable for steel structure maintenance scenarios where sandblasting cannot be performed, such as field, high-altitude, or confined spaces.
Repair applications for bridges / storage tanks / pipelines
On-site maintenance of steel structure bridges/viaducts (where sandblasting is not possible). Periodic anti-corrosion maintenance of petrochemical storage tank exteriors/pipelines. Field high-altitude maintenance of transmission towers/communication towers. Temporary anti-corrosion for port machinery/ship superstructures. Coating maintenance for all rusted steel structure surfaces where sandblasting cannot be performed.
Professional coating technology support services
Kexin has an experienced coatings R&D and applications team that supports the whole process - substrate analysis, coating selection, optimisation of process parameters and on-site application guidance. Our engineers commission the coating parameters on your own production line so that finish quality and output are both optimised.
Eco-compliant green manufacturing system
All products are RoHS/REACH compliant and their VOC content meets national environmental standards. Waterborne and high-solids low-VOC formulations are continuously refined to keep pace with ever stricter environmental requirements. Environmental performance test reports issued by third-party authorities such as SGS and CTI are available on request.
Complete quality control and batch traceability
A quality-control system covering the whole process, from incoming raw materials to finished-goods dispatch. Every batch undergoes rigorous physico-chemical testing and simulated application trials. Batch numbers are traceable end to end, so raw-material sources and production data can be retrieved. Each shipment is released with a batch test report and a product warranty, so customers can use it with confidence.

Frequently AskedFAQ
ApplicationProcess
Surface preparation
Substrate must be thoroughly cleaned of oil and rust. Blast steel to Sa2.5. Prepare the surface per the product requirements. Ambient 5-40°C relative humidity<85%。
Primer / pre-treatment
Select a compatible primer or pretreatment according to the substrate and coating system. Mix strictly in the specified ratio and control the film thickness. Proceed to the next step after the primer dries.
Main-coat application
Apply the main coat per the process requirements. Strictly control parameters such as film thickness and temperature/humidity. Ensure a uniform coating free of sagging and pinholes.
Curing process
Oven-cure per the product requirements, or air-dry at room temperature. Keep the oven temperature uniform and ramp it up gradually. For room-temperature-cure grades, ensure ventilation and humidity control.
Inspection & acceptance
Test all parameters including film thickness, adhesion and gloss. Once everything passes, issue the test report and quality certificate, then pack and ship in a clean room.
